Coraline

Plot: Looking for excitement, Coraline ventures through a mysterious door into a world that is similar, yet disturbingly different from her own, where she must challenge a gruesome entity in order to save herself, her parents, and the souls of three others.
I went to see Coraline over the weekend. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars. The theater I went to did not have it available in 3-D and I've heard that it's much more fabulous that way. Still, it was very visually pleasing and much better than Corpse Bride, although still not as good as Nightmare Before Christmas, which is my measuring stick for all stop-motion animated movies. It is definitely not a movie for young children, as the story has some darker elements to it. The story stuck fairly close to the book, but did take a few liberties. I wasn't a big fan of the book, so this is one instance where I actually liked the movie more than the book.
